Equipment and Gear

With archery, you actually don’t have to break the bank to acquire the equipment, all you will need is an arrow and a bow. You can buy the equipment online or at an archery store near you. One good thing about these shops is that they also offer lessons for beginners. They are also likely to refer you to an instructor in case they don’t offer lessons. However, buying the equipment online is not the best option if you are a beginner. It is good to establish a relationship with a physical store where you can get help if and when you need it. Also, setting up the equipment is not easy especially if you have never handled one, this is a service you won’t enjoy if you buy online.

Learning Process

To get started, you will need to sign up for lessons. As mentioned above, many archery stores offer lessons, and in case you are not ready also to buy the equipment, they rent bows. This is an excellent option for those starting out. In the process of learning, you will know what works best for you before spending your money. Notably, a thirty-minute lesson is good enough for a start then you can increase the duration as you advance. If your friends or siblings are also interested in learning archery, you can take the lessons together as it will be more fun.

Your Safety 

Generally, there is no standard dress code for archery unless you are a member of a team that has its own uniform. When going out for the lessons, always ensure that you are wearing comfortable shoes such as sneakers. Also, ensure you wear the right clothing for the weather. Avoid very baggy clothes that might end up catching your bowstring. You also don’t want your hair to get stuck on the bowstring as you shoot; pull it back always, or style it in a ponytail to avoid minor accidents that might be caused by things you can avoid.

Once you get hooked to archery, you will never turn back. It is one of the most interesting sports to play for both adults and teenagers.
